Post-treatment advice may include:

It is very important that you follow Jolanta’s advice carefully after a thread lift so as not to disrupt the placement of the threads.

  • You can resume normal activities (light walking, sitting up, watching television, using a computer, etc.) within the hour but you should take it easy during the first few days.
  • You should not talk, laugh or smile excessively or make exaggerated facial movements for the first few days.
  • You should not sleep on your face for the first week.
  • You should not shave your face, use chemical peels, scrub it or use harsh cleansers for the first week.
  • You should avoid any strenuous exercise or sexual activities for the first week.
  • You should not massage, rub or apply pressure to your face for one month as this could disturb the threads.
  • You should use recommended painkillers as required.
  • Contact Jolanta immediately if you notice any signs of infection or if you experience bleeding or a sudden increase in pain.

PDO is the name given to the very fine threads that are used to help strengthen and tighten the skin. This treatment is relatively new here in the UK, however PDO threads have been used extensively in Korea and the Far East where they have been researched and used successfully for many years in aesthetics.

PDO thread lifts are a very effective technique with two main modes of action. Firstly, the PDO threads tighten loose and lax facial skin, redefining facial curves and contours and secondly, as the PDO threads dissolve, this helps the formation of collagen which is essential for that youthful look and has a rejuvenating effect on skin.

PDO Thread Facelift

What happens during the treatment?

A face to face consultation with Jolanta is essential to determine whether PDO threads are the right treatment for you, your medical history, allergies, and this is also the time to ask all questions about the treatment. During the consultation and assessment, Jolanta may prescribe other treatments, as well as a skin care regime for best outcome of the PDO treatment.

This procedure is usually performed using a local anaesthetic. Implantation and positioning of the threads is quick and takes approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the number of areas being treated.

Repeat procedures.

It is advised that the treatment with PDO threads is repeated, about once or twice (in some areas) a year.

Recovery time.

Post procedure, there could be bruising and slight swelling, which usually settles in a few days. Recovery is generally quick, with most patients returning to work the next day or after a few days rest. You may find that your facial movement is limited for the first two weeks and it may hurt to laugh or smile.

How long will a PDO Thread Lift last?

The very fine PDO threads will eventually naturally dissolve away after about 3 - 6 months, however the threads will have caused new collagen to be produced and that visual effect can still be seen from around 18 months and up to 3 years.

The dissolving process leaves the skin looking more youthful and feels smoother.

Does it hurt and what could go wrong?

Pain should be minimal due to the application of local anaesthetic.

Remember that side effects can be good and bad and that all treatments have some side effects. Commonly with PDO threads we can see some degree of bruising, there may be a period after the treatment that you experience some swelling too. This will depend on how many threads were used and the area treated.

Also depending on the treated area, you may be required to take painkillers and/ or prophylactic antibiotics on the day of treatment. Patients also commonly report a slight tightness or pulling sensation immediately after the treatment, but this soon subsides.
